Shoes that are too narrow for your feet can cause so much hidden trauma.
Our feet have five toe bones that are spread a certain distance from each other. This creates a foot that is stable. A foot that can absorb shock and handle your body weight.
When this distance between the toes are restricted by tight shoes, the foot can no longer be stable, absorb shock and handle your body weight efficiently. In fact, the arch of your foot malfunctions or flattens when the big toe is restricted by narrow shoes.
Most people will continue to wear narrow shoes since the damage that occurs to the foot is often hidden. It silently progresses until pain is experienced months to years later.
If you take your shoes off after work and find that it has red marks around the big and small toe then your shoes are too narrow.
Making the right shoe changes can save you the grief of foot and back pain.
